The Bethesda Game Studios team has a history of releasing the tools they use to build their games to the player community to support modding. That was reinforced in a big way with Skyrim when support for Steam Workshop was added, to make finding and installing mods even easier for players. In order to drum up excitement for the new features, we decided to create a trailer heralding its release.

In order to keep the video visually engaging, I took it upon myself to do some of the most complicated After Effects motion graphics work I'd attempted to date. The hardest part of this project was re-creating three separate Steam webpages at 4x their original resolution—by hand, piece-by-piece—in order to do the complicated, multi-layered 3D animation of the site featured in the latter half of the video. As I recall, when I finally finished I'd been up for 38 continuous hours trying to pull the whole thing together—but my memory's a little fuzzy on that point.
